Lisa Jardine wins Cundill Prize

Professor Lisa Jardine has been awarded the second annual Cundill International Prize in History for her book Going Dutch: How England Plundered Holland's Glory (HarperCollins, 2008).

Professor Jardine was shortlisted for the award along with Pulitzer Prize-winning Brandeis University professor David Hackett Fischer, recognized for his work Champlain's Dream, and University of California at Santa Barbara professor Pekka Hämäläinen for his book, The Comanche Empire.

The Cundill International Prize and Lecture in History at McGill University was established in 2008 by Peter Cundill, a prominent investment manager, who is also a 1960 McGill University graduate in commerce. He has since emerged as a notable figure in the Canadian financial sector. In addition to financing the Cundill International Prize, Peter Cundill has also created two graduate fellowships in history worth $25,000 each.

Congratulations, Lisa!
