[In margin]Feb: 11.1662.3   The experiment of Respiration in warm water was made the operator
Respired 36 times in 1'.52". mr. Hook 24 or 25 times in 1'.50". -
mr Hooke proposed for next Day the Celerity of falling bodys.
Feb: 18. 1662/3. The expt. of the Refraction of a prisme in water was made by mr Hooke and
he orderd to giue in the account thereof in writing. His account of the force
of falling bodys was read & orderd to be entred & he Desired to prosecute this Expt
wth. bullets of the same brasse metall to seuerall Diameters & obserue the time -
wthall.           The Expt. of the celerity of falling bodys shewing exactly
the time they will Descend in at such and such Distances to be made by mr Hooke
mr. Ball Dr. Pope & mr. Hooke were desired to bring in writing an account of their
seuerall obseruations of the moons Late Eclipse.
mr. Hooke was orderd to bring in a Scheme of Expts. concerning air both such
as haue been made already about that subj subject and those that shall occurr to him
further to be made concerning the Same.
Feb: 25. mr. Hooke brough in a scheme of inquirys about air according to order and it
was Read; and the author was appointed to giue in such expts. as may serue for the
Resolution of those querys, and to begin wth those that Relate to the first head
vizt the Constitution & substance of the air.
march. 4. A List of Expts. concerning the Resistance of the air to bodys moued through
it was brought in by mr Hooke & he appointed Curator thereof and to begin wth
a pendulum sealed vp in a glasse.
mr Aubery presented the company wth the Scheme of a Cart wth Leggs insteed of wheels
Devised by mr Frances Potter it was Referred to mr Hooke to consider of it
and to bring in a Report against next meeting
march: 11. ( I suppose tht I was wth D Brounker Sr. R mory &c at sea)
march 18. (vpon mentioning of the Distilling brewers frustration) here it was suggested by mr Hooke that
vrine Distilled before it is fermented yealds noe spirit at all.
mr Hookes account of the Cart wth Leggs brought in by mr. Aubery from mr Potter was Read
and the same wth. some alterations was orderd to be sent to the author of this Inuention
together wth. the thanks of the society. mr Hooke was also orderd to draw vp a full
Description of this Cart together wth. the scheme thereof to the end that it may be
entred. wth the animaduersions vpon it
my Ld Brounker Sr. R moray & mr Bruce brough in an account of the obseruations & Expts
they had Lately made vpon the Riuer of Chattam (this account I made /see below &/) And my Lord
Brounker promised to Adde herevnto some notes of his own. they had the thankes
of the Company. and the paper being Read was orderd to be entred:
march 25. 1663. The Expt of Purging water from air Did not succeed the
engine not being tight. orderd to be tryed againe next Day and -
then to try againe also how long a fish will liue in water thus freed
from air. Item the celerity of falling bodys in a long glasse exhausted of
air. mr Hooke to be Curator of these 3 Expts.
& my Lord Brounker promised to bring in next Day his notes of the Obseruations Lately made by him & Sr R moray
at Sea.            Sr R moray Dr. Wilkins & mr. Hooke were desired to be curators of trying
the two sorts of vessells for the fetching vp of water from the Bottom of the Sea.
mr. Hooke was sollicited to prosecute the microscopicall Obseruations in order to publish
them      Aprill 1 1663. An account was guiuen of the Pnewmaticall
engine as it is now, which was orderd to be brought in writing together
wth. Scheme of the engine by mr. Hooke. water was purged of air
