What are the 'workdiaries'?

This is a name that has been given to a series of paper-books in which Boyle made entries recording his experiments, observations and measurements, information that he was given by travellers and others, and extracts from books. They provide a vivid record of the manner in which Boyle collected data. Though it was not used by Boyle himself, the term 'workdiary' has been adopted to do justice to the sequential, diary-like arrangement of the information that these documents contain. For a full account of the precise definition of the term see the 'editorial definition of workdiary' in the Editorial Policy.
