Aug. 29. 1666 (mr. mercator produced a watch of his inuention representing the aequations of time, the compa
ny hauing viewd it and approued thereof, orderd thanks. and desired demonstrations of it vizt that his tables of
aequations are true & that the motion of the watch agrees therewith). mr. Hooke also produced a new peice of watch
work of his contriuance seruing to measure time exactly both by sea & Land of which he was orderd to -
bring in the Description. The same mentiond againe a prospectiue he did prepare for obseruing the
positions and Distances of fixed starrs from the moon by reflection he was desired to haue it made wth speed
and to bring in his description of its structure & vses (Kings paper of Ants) Dan cox white gold powder) -

Sep. 5. 1666. noe Meeting because of Late dredfull fire of London. Sep. 12. 1666. (- mr. mercator produced
his watch againe and declared that his demonstrations for it consisted only in this that he Could
shew his tables of aequations were true, and that the motion Represented thereof in his watch agreed wth
those tables). mr. Hooke presented his new prospectiue for taking angles by Reflections which was appro
ued of by the company, he also was desired to bring the Description of it in writing. (consideration about their
meeting place.) Heuelius disposed 4 books./
Sep. 19. 1666. mr Hooke shewed the company his modul for Rebuilding the City, who were well pleased
therewth and Sr. I Laurence Late Ld mayor of London hauing addressed himself to the Society, and Express
the Present Ld Mayors & Aldermens Liking of the the said module as also their desire that it might be shewn
to his Majty. they preferreng it far before that which was drawn vp by the surueyor of the City.
The President of the Society answered that the society would be very glad if they or any of their mem
bers could doe any seruice for the good of the City, and that mr. Hooke should wait on them wth.
his module to the King if they thought fit to present it. which was accepted wth. expression of thankes
to the Society, -
Sept. 26. 1666. (Transfusion by Dr. Lower) mr. D Cox mr. T. Coxe mr King & mr Hooke are appointed curators of
this expt. in priuate by themselues. in case of successe in publique before the Society. Godderd, merret

There was tryd an Expt. touching the propagation of motion by a contriuance whereby 2 balls of
the same wood and of aequall bignesse were soe suspended that one of them being Lett fall
from a certaine height against the other, the other was Impl impelled vpwards, to neer the
same height from wch. the first was Lette fall. the first by appearing /becoming/ then almost quiesent and
the tother Returning impelled the 1st impelled the 1st. vpards againe to almost the same height
it had fallen before, itself burning them in a menner mouelesse, till after some returnes they both
vibrated to gether orderd that this Expt. be prosecuted and others of that kind thought vpon. (Pouey about
a mouing sand in Suffolk.) Dr. Balls curiositys for repository
Oct. 24. 1666. (expt. about propagating motion was prosecuted wth 3 ball of wch the middle remaind almost
quiescent though struck by either of the Laterall ones which did impel each other vpwards (It was
moued that materialls for building. as earth for bricks tiles &c might be consider) good tarris in Darbishere)
a caue about plimouth discouerd. 20 foot vnder ground 24 foot square vault couerd wth Icelles). cole balls -
(Staggs tears) Iumper curiositys by the hands of mr Hooke.) It was orderd tht the persons appointed for trans
fusion should meet and if they succeeded to shew it to the Society)
Oct. 31. 1666. orderd that the transfusion expt. be made next tuesday (good clays in England to make clinkers)
Isle of Ely bricks as good as Clinkers.) mr. Hooke obserud that those earth that will vitrify make the most
Lasting bricks. orderd that mr Hooke should make tryalls of seuerall earthes by burning them
in a wind furnace to see which kind would yeald the best brick (Ld Sandwich Letter) The papers of
these obseruations were deliuerd to mr Hooke to pervse & make report of them to the society
to wch. was added a little schem made by the president) wallis Letter about tides about Rumney -
marsh) mr. Hooke produced an Inclining Pendulum which though short should performe
the office of a long perpendicular one the seuerall degrees of Inclination answering the
seuerall Dimensions of Length. was orderd to be prosecuted the next Day -

Directions for seamen printed & recommended to trinity house) mr. Hooke was orderd (vpon the
suggestion of taking vp earths from the bottom of the sea) to think vpon & prouide an easy Instru
ment for that Purpose (. The Inclining pendulum being againe spoken of it was orderd
that it should by mr Hooke be fitted against the next meeting for all Inclinations to bring
it at Last to Rest. Dr. Pope to speake to Sr Tho: Bloodworth for a room on Election Day
Nou 14. 1666. (expt. of transfusion tryed) with successe) the Expt. of the Inclining pendulum was
repeated & mr Hooke was orderd to bring in a scheme of it and a description of its vses. -
