mr. Hooke shewed a new Book of Signr Viuianj sent to himself
by the said Authour, containing seuerall solutions of the Problem
Propounded by monr. Comiers of trisecting an angle & finding
two mean Proportionalls. There were .... /two/ others of the same sent
the one to the President of the Royall Society and the other to
mr Iohn Collins which were accordingly Deliuered.
Herevpon Sr. Robert Southwell was pleased to promise that he
would send In a book of Viuianj De maximis & minimis
which he had by him for the Increasing the Societys Library

mr. Henshaw Read a paper which he had Receiued from Dr.
Plot which was coppyed out of the Records in the Tower con
teining an account of the Strange Recouery of Certain persons
a long time after their hauing been executed.

The Expts. shewn were the tryalls wth. the before mentiond box
. . . in which a chaffing dish of liue Coles was placed &
the time was obserued how long it there continued before
the cole seemed quite extinct & black. then the same
chaffing Dish was againe filld wth liue coles & included
and the bellows were kept continually Blowing vpon
them and the time being also obserued how long it was
before they also were quite extinct It was found that the
times of continuance in both Expts. was the same.

There were two other Expts. ready which the Society had
not time to see tryed it Being Late but they were
to be reserved till the next meeting.
