mr. Henshaw obserued that there was a volatill salt which being mixt
wth. the highest Rectifyed Spt. of wine, would not withstanding rise &
sublime from it before the Spt. of wine would Rise.

These were occasiond vpon the question concerning the
height of vapours aboue the surface of the waters.


Sr. Iohn Hoskins obserued that water in Glasses wherein plants
(as mints &c.) had been set to grow, would in time grow .
muddy and fowle
mr. Henshaw supposd that ^ /this/ might be occasiond by the Plant
casting foorth some excrement into the water, or els by the
plants straining and sucking away the cleerer part & by its
Leauing the grosser & more feculent part behind.
a 3d way from dissoluing some parts of plants.

mr. Hooke then produced a new microscope made after
his Directions by mr Cox Christopher Cock whereby the species
were prod exceedingly magnifyed & yet appeard very cleer
this was viewd by most of the Society Present wth. great
satisfaction, and the microscope was orderd to be bought of
mr. Cock for the Societys vse

Expts for the next Day were the tryalls vpon Blood wth
Terebinthine. &
