and he was desired to giue a proof thereof to the Company at their next meeting.
The expts. of weighing Little glasse bubbles in the compressing engine was made wth
successe. & mr. Hooke was orderd to bring in writing an account thereof at their
next meeting. The expt. of trying the force of powder by weight in the new
powder Engine contryued by mr. Hooke was made twice but wthout successe
both times. once by Reason that the Barrell broke in peices. the 2d time because
the Couer of the barrell bent. It was Referrd to mr Hooke to think of a way
to preuent these Inconueniences. (mr. Howards saffron kiln. deers hair tubulous.)
mr. Hook was desired to Obserue in his microscope some of this Deers hair. wt
cauity they haue. & mr. Clayton promised to furnish him wth some deers hair come
^ /out/ of the Indies. (about springs & oares and Ice Mares. Dr. Ents Lignum fossile.)
mr. Hook was putt in mind to consider further of the Bow for killing of whales
(bow of a Locust tree that would not Loose it spring in 6 months)
Expts. for next Day. one in Compressing Engine. the other wth exhausting air out of Spt. of wine
the former to be made by mr. Hooke & the Later by Dr. Godderd & Dr. Whistler.

mr. Hooks paper concerning the Expt. Lately made before the Society of weighing two
small glasse balls in the condensing engine together wth. the Deductions was Read
and orderd to be entred, thanks also were giuen to the Author. The same was
also desired to Repeat at the next meeting wth more exactnesse the Expt. made this
Day of weighing the condensing engine after it it crowded full of air to see how ^ /then/
it differs in weight from it self filld after the natural manner.
The same proposed an Expt. to be made wth. a compressing engine of applying a
gun to it to see /with/ what force it will be able to shoot a bullet arrow &c the operator
was orderd to prepare a gun fitt for this purpose. the same was /appointed/ desired to try againe
by himself the Expt. in the new powder engine & to giue an account of the successe thereof
at the next meeting.
mr. Hook was desired to Look in his microscope vpon some Indian Deer hair produced by
mr. Clayton, & to make a report to the Company whether they be tubulous or not.
he was also put pressed putt in mind to presse the workman to Dispatch P Ruperts perspectiue
engine against the next meeting (mr. Balls Iron chest.)
Dec: 23. 1663. Dr. Ents Lignum fossile. Mr. Hooke was desired to looke vpon a peice of this
wood in a microscope. -      mr. Hookes account concerning the expert
made at the Last meeting of weighing the Compressing engine wth Condensed
air in it was read and orderd to be entred. The same expt. was orderd to be
made againe more exactly at the next meeting. And the operr: appointed
to prouide a /pair of/ fitt scales for the weighing the sd. Engine.
mr. Hooke produced the new perspectiue Instru Engine of P Ruperts inuention
together wth. his own additions, to cast embossed things into perspectiue as
well as platformes. It was orderd that the engine be shewd to prince Rupert
But that first two Rulers of wood be putt instead of the two threeds to
Direct the parallelisme. orderd that the gun be made ready by the Opr.
to apply /to/ the condensing engine against next Day. (mr Boyle extract air fro solids)
mr. Hook produced a microscopicall obseruation of the Hair of an Indian
Deer. which represents to to be like sponge not like quills. (Eels viuiparous) -
mr. Hooke was desired to make obseruations of the fish spawns wth the micro
Scope . - Dr. Godderd caled vpon for the expt. formerly committed to him of compa
ring the weights of mettalls in air & water & he not hauing yet made it
it was desired that he and Dr. wren & mr. Hooke should be joynt Curators
