mr. Henshaw the vicepresident tooke the chair.
mr. Hooke Read a Letter which he had Receiud from Mr. Isaac New
ton of Cambridge. Giuing an account that D. D. Gasparini had
M.D. of Lucca had Lately written a treatise about the Iesuites
Bark & the vse of this in feauere &c. and that he Desired Leaue
to Dedicate it to this Society. At the same time Dr. Green alo
produce an Italien a Letter from one of his correspondents
in cambridge wch. was much to the same effect. mr. Hooke
was desired to send the Societys thankes to mr. newton & to
answer the contents of the Letter.
Dr. Sleyer was Introduced by Mr. Haak and hauing subscribed the
engagement was admitted fellow.
mr. Hooke produced the first sheets of Mr. Dethleuus Cluuerus his Epheme
rides, presented by mr. Haak. Conteining a summary of His whole
Designe in that vndertaken. the which being read was well appro
ued by the Company.
A Letter of mr. Haakes from Dr. Arnoldes Dated 3/13 of December from
Leydon was Read. wherein amongs other considerables an account was
Giuen that there was printing at Amsterdam a body of Anatomy Illus
trated wth. figures of all the Parts of the body as big as the life. curious
ly cutt in Copper. Also that D. Paulus Hermannus a German &
professor of Botanicks at Leyden was printing an herball of
all the Zeylon Plants. he hauing lived on that Island the space
of 8 years. &c. also that some curious naturalists at Leyden had
found wthout the walls of that place Scorpions wth wings
Thankes were returnd to mr. Haak for communicating this Infor
mation and he was desired to continue this correspondence.
Dr. Gale Produced a Letter from Dr. Wallis of Oxford, which was Read
wherein containd an account of the comets hauing been seen
at that Place the 10. 11. & 12 instant and Iudged to haue its head -
about the head of Sagitarius. Dr. Gale was Desired to thank the Doctor
and to Desire his farther comunications concerning such obseruations
as should be made in Oxford.

Herevpon a Discourse was had of the Comet & Mr. Hooke Related what obser
uations he had here made concerning it and what he coniectured concer
ning its place motion Duration &c none of wch. could be positiuely De
termined till some further obseruations had Informed him more particularly
