should be further Inquired after to see whether it were the same
streights, and who made that map and the first Discouery of
those streights.

Mr. Hooke mentiond the Description of the South Sea coasts that was made
for the King of Spaine and was Presented to his maiesty which was
in the Possession of the Earl of Bristoll at the time of his
Death, as he had been informed but could not since be heard of.

Mr. Moxon sayd that he had had it in his custody for some
time but Returned it to the Earl of Bristoll. He con
ceiued that Capt. Wood might haue had it in his custody for
some time and might probably now be able to giue some
account of it. mr. moxon therefore vndertooke to make Inq
some further Inquiry for it.

A letter from        Sturmius Dated from Alsorf neer Neu
renburgh in Germany Directed to Mr. Hooke
was Read, conteining an account of the variation of the
needle Lately observed there by himself & some other Curi
ous men. as also about the phosphoros or shining Pills
&c Dr. Gale was desired to Returne the Thanks of the Society
and to Desire him to send some of those pills &c.

A 2d. letter from Mor. Iustell to mr Hooke was Read Giuing
Dated from Paris march 9th. St. N. was Read Giuing an account
of the Dissection of fishes by M. Du Bernie, and of his curiosity
in hauing them curiously drawn by M de la Hire. As also an ac
count of the Poysoners ^/at Paris/ and of a new inuention in Germany to
print without a presse. As also An account of a Germain that
had been ouer Land to china.

Dr. Gale was Desired to Answer him and to Encourage him to
continue his correspondence.

Dr. Gale read an account of the Numb Eele giuen to
him by Mr. Flamstead. It was orderd to be registred

There were some other Letters of Dr. Beale wch. the time
being much spent could not be Read, as also the translati[on]
of Swammerdams discription of the Emerobius: And the
Long Letter of Mr. Leuwenehoek apppointed the Last Day. those
were Reserued till the next meeting.

The tryalls on Tuesday were to be made on Iron Lead brasse
&c.
