My verie good L I most hartily thank you for your long lres which I received by Sir
Thomas Shurley, and for your frendly consideracon of the contynuall hindrancs I
have for writing with mine owne hand: which at this present are most extreme, by
reason of the infinite care and buisynes I have abowt setting forth of the Armie
towards the releef of
Berk, which is presently beseiged by th'enemy. for which cawse
I am faine to referre all things to the report of Master Herle, especially touching the
matter of
Embden, which is the principall thing I had to certifie your L. of, wherin he
can thorowly advertise you what is doon

and what difficultie
I had to bring the States

My L. the matters of this state doth grow now to be of great Importaunce and of such
consultation as ther ys no further dalyaunce to be used, and her
majesty shall shortly be advertysed of the hole as farr as we her mynysters ar able to
look into yt. The people are most affectionate to her majesty & desire only to be hirs,
The hier sort that manage the causes amonge them, and who wyll at length perswade
the people, wyll I se deall uppon a surer ground then hetherto they have done or ells
yow wyll fynd they wyll seke an other course. I may boldly say uppon my conscience
that they as well as ther comon sort wold begge of god none other to be ther prince or
to be protected by, than her majesty. but the fear & dowbt that heretofore for these v
months past tyll now that master wylks
