R. honorable L. your L. servant Brewer, browght me a few lynes from yow before dyner:
To answer the which effectually I desire to do it by speche, assone as ether your own
disquiettnes for mi good Lady, or your leysure with mi wekenes, will permitt And
then yf I discharge nott mi sellf towards your L. as I owght, yow ar to conseve of me
accordingly./ Butt yf I have don good offices to mi capacity & power, in the cowrse I
have hollden, I hope that your wisdom will interprete theme to the best, & repute the
discretyon I have used, to be symply & honestly ment./ Your L. as greved & possessed
haply with an oppynion contrary to this, doth require to have your lres agayn that ye
have plesed to wryte me (which ar so honorable, as they may be exposed to the vyew
of the whole worlld) what in & in all other things I am most humbly to obey yow,
hopyng that mi papers therewith shalbe restored me, that I have trobled your L.
withall, & mi sellf nott prejudicated by ani sinister oppynion./ Towching your L.
servant Owen: Truly I protest to God, that he is in all menes judgements (& yn mine
especiallye) as honest a person as ever served noble man, & the other party no stayne
att all unto hym, of whom I never hard before yesterdaye, butt by on newly com from
the P. of Parmas Camp, & hath by the way observed Rowland Yorck, & others, which
I thowght mi parte to advertis your L. of, in all symplicitye & duty, & not otherwise:
