Your lre R. honorable L. written yesterday I have Receved, within which was the
same of myne to the Q. majestie with his

allso of Amsterdam, & on to master
fanshaw in favor of Acerbo. for the which I thanck your L. humbly, having don an Acte of
Charitye & Justice in the same./ I am most hartly sory for your L. infirmitye,
& for your absence now att the Cowrtt therby. For why these Accydents of the Lowe
Contreyes (under favor I speke) have grett cawse to be substancially looked to,
& dayly provyded for. for albeit that Andwarp, may be of more burden than ayde, to the
P. of Parma in tyme, & of more traffick to our natyon, yett the present
oppynion of his happi progresse, will prevayll muche with the people, that ar governed without a hed,
& breede bothe precipications & deffectyons: And for a present prooff,
ytt may plese your L. to rede this paper inclosed, which is a pece of an abstract of a lre of myne,
yesterday sent to master Secretory in your absence: To procure the rather juste
consyderation & Regard to be had of the same yntymated theryn, & of the rest./ Owr
sowdyors here go over very slackly loked to by their heddes, who dele nott only
rasshly, butt allso lynger behinde, consumyng tyme & mony, & prepared
rather for ostentacion than warre in their furniture, which dissolutyon will waste the sowdyors
mony, & breke owtt into dissorder in the service./
I am marvaylowslye lowe browght mi L. of Late by a Relaps, otherwise I had before
now written att large unto yow, butt I hope in God to se yow nottwithstandyng shortly,
& to satisfye your L. in many things: for I desire to do yow the humblest
offics, that an honest man that is trewly affected, may yelld: And presently I am nott ydell, thowgh
for the most do kepe my Bed, haveng taken allso phisick this mornyng./
Your L. late long lre is a very glasse to make all sclanderers asshamed, that might se
theme sellves in the same: And truly it shall do good to som of mi frynds (nott many)
of the better sort, that mene well, butt waver with the sondry & vehement
ympressyon of others, yll grownded in the truthe, wherfore [fol. 190v] whattsoever is of error &
malyce will dye to your gretter honor & justifficatyon, & to the evydent blemish
of your Adversaryes. Wherwith thanckyng your L. of the care ye have with her majestie for
me, I humbly take mi Leve. My lodging the 21. of Awgust. 1585. Your L. most
