Letter Text:

[fol. 193r] R honorable good L. since the sendyng of mi lre to your L. yesterday I wolld butt humblye putt yow in remembrance to have the censure of som lerned man, that were asswell qwalleffyed in state cawses, as devynitye, towching the supposed L. Henry Hawards booke agaynst prophesyes, for that the sayd booke is conseved by som of good judgement to conteyne sondry heresyes & spyces withall of Treson, thowgh somwhatt closelye caryed, as the Awthor Imagynes./

I Receved this mornyng a Tyckett from the Sluse in Flanders, advertiseng, that the P. of Orenge (after long keping of the passagges of Zeland shutt) hath collected owtt of holland garrisons, & placs herabowtts, 3000. sowdyors, who ar sent over into flanders, & have repossessed the Sasse, & sondrye passayges bettwene the land of Waes & the Enmye, which the P. of Parma looked nott for, & therfor breedes to him the more ynconvenyence./

Don Gaston that is com from the [ deleted: K of [S] ] P. of Parma, to go into Spayne to the .K. from hence is a man reputed of actyon, of the age of 33. yeres, & hath butt on eye, & very resolute. his father was a genovoys, his mother a spaniard, & ^by^ his contry a Sicilyan which is the worst comixture that ever was, & therfor for God sake, lett him be well observed. for tomorow is a solempne daye, which owght nott to be withowtt care of her majesties securitye, her person beyng the highest jewell that christendom now hath. Those solempne dayes have bred danger mani tymes and the worlld is full of mischeeff, for the enmy slepes nott, besyde that the comyng of this man att this instant hither, his condycyons allso wayd, hath made me never cesse till I had uttred in humble zele this mi conseytt to your good L. & so most humblye I take mi leve prayeng for many joyfull [ deleted: yers] yeres to her majesties Raigne. 16. november. 1583./ your L. in all dutye servyce & devocyon. W Herllly.
