mr Henshaw gaue an account of some tryalls he had
made wth. the Phosphoros Presented by mr. Sleyer
one of wch. was that he had found that the same would
Receiue a very brisk light from the euening light of
the Air, But a very Dusky one from tht of a candle &
none - sensible from the Rayes of the moon. It was
Desired that he would try to increase the Light of the
moon by a Burning Glasse to see whether it would
produce any considerable effect.

Dr. Croon mentiond that in Bartholines Acta
medica there was mention made of two liquors wch
put together produced light flame
mr. Hooke Related that he had taken notice in the same
booke of two liquors which put together were
said to produce An actuall fire and those were
Aqua fortis & oyle of Turpentine new Drawn


Dr. Allein Read a short account of some extractions
made by himself out of medicinall waters near
London - vizt.
August. 1663. I distilled 6 gallons of chigwell waters out of
wch I extracted of salt x - and there remained of calx
i & ii
I extracted out of the like quantity of the      Waters by euapora
tion xi & i of salt & xij of calx
there was of the said salt extracted by euaporation crystallised ij
I extracted out of 3 gallons of north hall waters of salt iij of calx
ij&ii. And from 3 gallons of Barnet water of salt i & uij and
of calx iij & .

mr. Henshaw obserued that the best way of extracting a salt was by
first putrifying the said water ^ /letting it stand by it self/ and then Distilling it
The same also further obserued that some salt were exceeding penetrans
so as to peirce through the substance of the Pipkin
