Dr. Plot Related that there was one book of Bacon in Vni=
versity Colledge Library, which he thought was noe where
els in the world.
The same Related also that Dr. Langbane had made an
Epitomy of all the contents of Bacons work, as he had
also of all the manuscripts in the Bodlean Library
Dr. Gale Promised to Lend his coppy to mr. Hooke to peruse.
when he should call for it .

After this was a Discourse about fire, flame, heat &c.
and Seuerall obiections were made against mr Hookes hypothesis of explai
ning it by the Dissolution of Bodys by the air. It was supposed that the fire
went out when all the pores of the air were filled soe as there was noe
more space Left for the vapours & smoke to fly out of the cole. to
wch. he answerd that the want of Room could not be the cause of
the extinction of the fire. because if the air were drawn out of the
vessell wherein a candle or cole were burning it would yet
sooner goe out, whereas there was thereby manifestly made more
room, & vpon the forcing and compressing more air into a
vessell the fire would continue soe much the Longer burning
Dr. Croon . . . supposed that the spring of the air

Dr. Holder supposed that the smoke was lighter than the air whilst dry
but, that meeting wth. the moysture of the air it was precipitated
down againe being made heauier. -

The experiment of the sand falling in water to examine how much
the pressure of the water was alterd thereby was tryed, but mr. Hunt
being vnable to blow down to the bottom of the tube it could not be
certainly obserued.
The same & another expt. was desired should be shewd the next
Day. -
