Lately made there to shew the motion of Iupiters satellites.
Also tht quadrant he hath lately made a sliding half quadrant wth
glasses 8 inches semidiameter of great vse for Cariage - -
Included in this Letter were two packetts -
one from mor. Gallet Provost of the church of St. Syphorian at Auignion
conteining a Letter to the Royall Society and 3 trea small tracts
the first his account of the obseruation of mercury in the sun
The second his obseruation of an eclipse of the Moon may. 17. 1677
The 3d. his obseruation of an eclipse of the Sun Iune 11. 1678.
all 3 obserued at Auignon .

The Letter of mor Gallet was read wherein after the profession
of the great Respect he hath for this Society, he addes his Desire of
holding correspondence wth. them in Astronomicall matters and
promises to send such other obseruations as he hath hitherto made
wch. are not yet published, and Especially those about the Di
ameters of the sun & moon of concerning which he giues -
some instances about the Diameters of the sun -

Dr. Croon . . . affirmed that mr. Rooke ^ /Long since/ vsed the same way for
taking the Diameters of the sun wth. that made vse of by
Mor: Gallet namely by computing the time of the transitus of
its figure made by a 40 foot Glasse.

mr. Hooke Read a paper Relation of a great eruption of fire wch
Las hapned this last winter in the Ile of Palma of the Ca
narys giuen him by a person who had Long Resided in
the said Island. and who was there at the time of the said
eruption -

mr. Henshaw was of opinion that Hot bathes were caused
by subtarraneous fire, because generally where are those
subterraneous fire there are many hott bathes -
