r. Hooke then shewd the experiment of the springing of a string -
of bra
sse wire about 36 or 37 foot Long extended by weights hung at
the Lower end thereof, and made it euident to the company that the
said string extended proportionable to the weight that was
putt intohung onto it at the bottom that is that one weight extended it one
length two extended to two and three extended it three spaces or
