and that there was not yet known any substance that would Retaine
the salt & let the fresh water straine through -

It was suggested that tryalls might be made wth seuerall substances
to see whether there were any that would make the water any
thing fresher
Dr. Croon mentiond the experiment that had been formerly
made by mr. Boyle of making the water rise by filtration to
a considerable height aboue the surface of the water in
the vessell.
vpon wch. the Society Disired that some expts. of that kind
might be shewd the next Day.
A Letter was Produced Directed from Dr. Edward Leechner of Erford Directed to Dr
Grew secretary of the society but being Long the reading of it was remitted to the next day
/mr. Hooke also produced a Discourse from mr. Iames Young of Plimmouth Desiring License
to print the same which was referred also to another time -/
As also mr. Hooke mentiond an experiment for examining the
Grauitation of the air at seuerall heights aboue the surface of the
earth.
