A Rope was soe orderd as to ioyne the two ends together

After this vpon a further Discourse concerning the appearance
of in sole. there was much Discourse concerning the
penumbra and shadows cast by the body of the earth &
by the atmosphere thereof and it was explaind by
experiments & reasons what part of the light of the
moon in an eclipse especially that of the Darkned parts
was to be ascribed to the Penumbra or partiall light
from the sun and wt to the light cast on it by the Refrac
tion of the same in the Atmosphere and it was shewd
that that undefinidnesse of light or shadow wch. was obser
uable in eclipses of the moon. where part is shadowed part en
lightned, was to be ascribed to the penumbra or partiall
light of the sun. but that light wch. made the moon vi
sible in a centrall eclipse where noe direct Ray from
the sun can come at it must be ascribed to the Re
fraction of the said Rayes by the Atmosphere of the Earth
