propounded that the measure thereof might be reduced to the vni-
uersall standard to wit the Length of a pendulum mouing a second
of time wch was between 39 & fowrty inches long and which
was the same all ouer the world and would euer be soe
in all ages.

Then mr Oliuer Hill being call vpon for his report of the Discourse
of mr. Smith of Chichester which was Deliuerd to him to be per
vsed. returned this this account which remains annexed to the Discourse
