lettertext

fol.104r
Maie it please your good Lp besides that which I have written to my L. Tresurer whereof I send the copie to your Lp. herewith I have litle other matter to signifie presentlie. Coronell Murrey of whom I written in my last of the 14 though /he beare/ the affection of a dutifull subject to the K. of Scottes & doth relie very much upon his favour unto him, yet he makes it a very cleare case, that if this succour of mony which Coronell Stuartdoth require shall be drawen from the states, it wilbe wholly devided among some about the K. being such as partly neede it, & partly (as the chauncellor) that have sent unto the K: And therefore as a practise by abusing the K: to make their private bennefitt, he would not willingly have it speede still he doth parsist in his former affection and affirmeth upon knowledge that the K; hath no neede of any suche aide, as the states are made beleeve For where it so that it were his desire or that it had ben heertofore, to suppresse those Earles of his contrey, they had either ben taken, or slaine, or chased out of scotland a great while agoe. But what cause he alledgeth, why it is not effective, I shewed your L in my last. It were to long to holde your L. with rehearsall of discourses which I have had with diverse parsones, and with Barnevelt in speciall, about the scottishe demaundes. but thoughe I finde them very forward to grati- fie the K. yet I hope I have obtained by way of good parswasions, & intimation of some perills, that they will neither take his parte in any daunger- ous practise, nor second him otherwise in any action at all, if it be important, until they notifie the same to her Majestie before. And thus I humbly take my leave from the Hage. February 22 1594. Your L. most humbly bounden Tho. Bodley.
