lettertext

fol.86r
Maye it please your good L. I have sent yow heer- inclosed a most impudent and railing libell, against her Majestie, your L., and the state at home in general. It was sent from Liege to Monsieur Buzenval, who delivered it to me. Of the Autor, and the place in which it was printed, there was nothing written to him: but I am told of a lettre, wherein it is signified, to a gentleman heere, that it was made by Cardinal Allen, and printed at Collen, by order of the Popes Nuntio: who sent a great number to Frankford mart. I knowe your L. will reade it with that contempt, that it deserveth, and every good man wheresoever, will repute it an unfallible argument, that he against whome the Enemie spurneth most, is he by whose endevors they are most impeached in their actions. In that respect the more they doe malice your procee- dinges, the more we are assured that the causes of the Churche of God, and the affaires of her Majestie are prosperously maneged. Which God graunt yow may continue, for many yeres heereafter, with like succese as heeretofore. And so I take my humble leave. From the Hage. April 7 1593. Your L. most humbly bounden Tho. Bodley
