May it please your good L. There is lately deceased at Disbourgh Captain Smith, whose Lieutenant John Throckmorton, hath bin alwaies esteemed an honest, and a valiant gentleman: wherof his service made proofe, at the last encoun- ter, at the victualling of Becke. I thinke Sir Francis Vere, who hath alwaies commended him, for he valew and conduct, will affourd him that testimonie, that is dewe unto him. He was first lieutenant to Captain Hart, and after his decease became sutor for his captains rowme, whiche was then conferred uppon Captain Hunninges, and after againe uppon Captain Smith, who being departed, if nowe the third time he should not be respected, it would muche discourage both him and others, that serve as Lieutenants: whiche your L.
