The minutes of the Preceding meeting were read - and Discoursed -
A letter of mor. Iustell was Read and he being Present wth. mor. Auzout.
gaue a further account thereof of making wood hardly combustible
mr. Aston Read a Letter he had newly Receiued from mr Heuelius of
Dantzick . giuing an account



A Letter from mor Cassini to mr. Flamstead was Read wherein was
an account of his obseruation of the Eclipse of the moon on the
           Last. together wth. those of M de latiere Mr. Auzout. Dela
fontanes at Paris and of M Romet at copenhagen. which confirmed the
Difference of meridians between Paris & Copenhagen found by former
obseruations of the satellits of . to this mr Flamstead had added
his own corresponding obseruations and mr. Hally shewed his by which it
appeard that the difference of the meridians of Paris and London was
9 1/3 minutes of time. /

A Proposall ^ /was Read/ of mr Iohn Collins for the Printing a Book of mr
Thomas Baker Rector of Bp Nympton. Entituled The Geometricall Ring key
or the Gate of equations vnlocked. A new Discouery of the constructions of
all equations howsoeuer affected not exceeding the 4th. degree. vizt
of Linears, quadraticks cubicks & biquadraticks, and the finding of
all their Roots as well fals as true, without the vse of mesolab or
trisection of Angles, without Reduction depression or other preuious
preparation of equations, by a circle and any (and that but one
only) Parabola And this by one only generall rule, there which a
more simple, more perfect, more generall more easy to be vnder
stood or more fit for practise cannot be Desired
Fortifyed wth Demonstrations illustrated wth figures to each equation
and exemplified wth numerall equations (according to all ^ /the/ variety
of cases) adapted to each figure for the vse of young mathematicians
which Proposall was well liked after a long debate concerning it
but the conclusion of wt was to be done by the secretary for the promo
ting of the printing thereof was Respited to the next meeting
mr Hooke Read a Discourse of his concerning the vnlimited extent & diuisibi
lity of matter shewing the Bulk of a man to be in a medium between them &
how farr Indeauours hitherto vsed had informed vs concerning the progresse midia
towards them. And Mr much further still mechanicall contriuances could yet
advance vs. beyond the Imaginations of most men hitherto known -
