The President in the chair

Mr Hooke Presented a Book from mr. Boyle A booke of his
which he had Lately Reprinted wth. many additions vizt his Scepticall
Chymist. mr Hooke was Desired to Returne the Thanks of the Society
to the Noble Authour, and the comtee. for Expts.were Desired to
Pervse the said treatise and to giue an account thereof to the
Society & to see wch. expts. therein Conteind were fit to be shewn
at the meetings.

The comtee. of Expts, were mr. Hill mr. Colwall mr. Henshaw Mr Euelyn
mr Aston Dr. Gale Dr. Crone Dr. Brown mr Hooke mr Perkin -
mr. Hooke appointed Desired they would meet vpon monday next
in the afternoon when he Designd to try Some expts. of weighing

mr. ^/Thomas/ Firman was introduced, he subscribed the Ingagement to the
Soc Conditions of Admittance & was admitted by the President

The President, Presented from Dr. Beckervs a Book of his Lately
Published & Dedicated to this Society being Entitled I. I. Bechori D.
De noua tempori dimetiendj Ratione et Accurata horologior constructione theoria & Experien
tia, ad societatem Regiam Anglicanam in Collegio Greshamensj Londini Ian: 1680.
It was Desired that the Authour should haue the thanks of the Society should be returned him

Mr Flamstead Gaue an account that he had perused the booke, and that he
conceiued there was very Little in it that was significant for the Designe
.. wch it was intended for, that the alteration by Rarefaction & condens
ation, would doe more harm than good, that he conceiued if he had applyd
the Barometer it would haue been more significant

Mr Hooke mentiond that one part of the Designe namely the taking
of all inequality of . . . . . . . /force/ from the pendulum he had long since shewd
compleated and perfected to this society when they met at Arundell house
as would appear by their Registers; and that this authour had only
supposed /asserted/ there was such a way but had not shewn wt. it w his way was
that some other of the ways he had there proposed he conceiued to be much in
feriour to those already practised.

Mr. Flamstead was desired to bring in an account of his obseruati
ons about a Late /strange/ tide that had lately hapned which he promi
sed to doe

The same also Gaue an account in writing of an obseruation wch
he had made wth. the Societys needle at the obseruatory of Greenwich
vizt. that it varied 4 about 4o or 4 1/4 Degrees at most to the west
Dr. Charltons Letter being coppyd was deliuered again to mr Colwall

Mr. Hooke Gaue an account of the tryalls made vpon munday Last and
also of the method he had made vse of to adiust on the weights
. . . . . . . use of for suceeding Expts. by Dividing Extended wires
&c into Graines half graines quarters eights &c.
