Mr Henshaw the vice Prest. tooke the chair

A Letter of Mr Hide of Oxford to Dr. Charlton was produced by Mr
Colwall and was Read Giuing an account of some. obseruations of
his about mothes. &c - as also ^ /of some obseruations/ about the generation of Oysters. vpon
wch he conceiued that the oyster did by some meanes convey its young soe
as to make them stick on the out side of its shell.. But Mr Henshaw
conceiud that it was a mistake for that those young shell-fish that
stuck vpon the back of oysters were for the most part of another
kind, as the Couter fishes & the auris marina &c. and that when any
oysters chanced to cleaue to the shell he conceiued them to be cast there
from some other spawning oyster
A Letter from Mr. Leuwenhook to Mr Hook (translated by Mr Astin) was Read
Giuing an account of the Receipt of the Last letters & books sent him and
also of the great Desire he had to be chosen a member of the Society
as also that he was busye about making two obseruations which he
promised to transmitt hither. Dated from Delft feb: 13.S.N. 1680.

Dr. Gale was called on for the Diploma and it was orderd that the seale
of the Society should be affixed and a silver box should be provided for it

mr. Haughton. Presented the Society wth seuerall prints of the Norfolk
Line. as also the copper plate it self whereon it was ingrauen &
also a Paine of Glasse wherein the first Duke of Norfolks picture
was Done in old Glasse-painting, all which he had procured from his
Vnkle mr. Siluanus Morgan. the Society very kindly accepted of this
his Present, and Gaue him their thanks for this his Present & Desired
that he would also Returne their hearty thanks to his Vnkle who had
been soe kind in making this Curious present

mr Hooke Read his account of the Expt that had been made on munday
Last of melting siluer & tin together, wherein it was obseruable
that the mixture produced was heauier by a tenth part then the
specifik weight of siluer.

At the same time the metall being shewn to the society & ^ /by a knock of a hammer/ broken before
them it was obserued to be very heauy, close, hard & Brittle.

The Expts of Gold & Siluer & Lead & Siluer were desired to be made
on munday next at 2 in the afternoon at the Repository.

mr. Henshaw Read a paper of mor. Pappin being some proposal
about some Expts which he could shew wth. spt. of wines mixed both
wth. fair fresh water & wth. Salt water and then put into the
exhausting engine where sometimes the mixture wth. fresh water
would yeald most bubbles & someimes the mixture wth. salt water
Dr. Gale produced his Draught of mr Leuwenhokes diploma
The Society (it being Late) would not Stay to see the Expt. tryd that was pre
pared Ready But the minutes of the Last Day being Read they adiourned.
