Record of changes

Record of changes between the 1997-2001
Birkbeck Workdiaries edition and the current one:

Innumerable piecemeal changes and improvements have been made both to the text and apparatus, which it has not seemed appropriate to note here. However, users may find it helpful to be aware of the following, more substantial changes to specific workdiaries:

Workdiary 21: recopied entries were omitted from the original edition, but have been included here as entries 359a, 361a, 401b, 402b, 404a and 708a.

Workdiary 22: various passages were omitted from the original edition, which have been included here as entries 73b, 76b, 202 and 203 (this has necessitated the final three entries in the workdiary having their numbers advanced by two).

Workdiary 33: the original edition presented only a selection of the content of MS 194, whereas we have included all its text. On the other hand, the original 'workdiary 33' also included as entries 40-1 two passages from Royal Society MS 199, fols. 104v-5, which it does not seem appropriate to include since these form part of Boyle's materials for the second edition of Memoirs for the Natural History of Human Blood, which are being separately published elsewhere. All entry numbers in this workdiary are editorial, and these changes have resulted in a complete renumbering, of which a concordance is provided here. The current (CELL) number is given first with the original (Birkbeck) edition following in brackets:
