Over the last weekend of February 2009 the Director was in The Hague at the invitation of the Royal Library, to celebrate the successful conclusion of her fellowship there, and the ongoing connection between CELL and the KB. She also visited her NIAS colleague Dr Arnoud Visser in Leiden. Here are some of her pics from that weekend.

The Royal Archives at Windsor Castle possess a selection of letters between Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia and her correspondents. I went to transcribe them on a rainy Tuesday: it was certainly the most unusual archive I've visited! I'm grateful to the staff of the Library for their patience with my numerous questions about the letters' provenance and correct methods of citation.

Nadine Akkerman and Robyn Adams have been successful in winning a Westfield Trust grant to help fund the first volume of their edition of the complete correspondence of King Charles I's sister, wife of the Elector Palatine Frederick V.
