Matt Symonds is CELL's Technical Research Officer, responsible for maintaining the CELL website and the IT infrastructure for the various CELL projects. He's currently taking a lead role in the development of CELL's project to digitise Gabriel Harvey's marginalia. He also teaches IT for Graduate Research.

He studied history at University College London and Cambridge and has taught at UCL and Brunel University. His Ph.D., 'Grub street culture: the newspapers of Nathaniel Mist c.1715 – c. 1745', is about a Jacobite, his newspaper, and the repeated scandalous and seditious libels that it published.
