Mark graduated with a BA from the University of Southampton 2002 and with an MA from the Open University in 2008, where he did his dissertation on the ideology of the rebel leadership in the Peasants' Revolt of 1381.

Mark is interested in the protest literature conected to popular rebellions in the late middle ages and Tudor periods and is currently reseaching the Pilgrimage of Grace.
