Eleanor Merchant

Eleanor gained her BA Hons in Literae Humaniores at New College, Oxford and her MA in Renaissance Studies at Queen Mary, working as a Management Consultant in France, Italy and London in the intervening four years. She is completing a doctoral thesis on biography and translation in 16th-Century England and Continental Europe, in particular through the career and published works of Laurence Humphrey, Oxford scholar, Marian exile and Protestant reformer.

She has recently translated and written the introduction for 'A Handbook on Good Manners for Children: De Civilitate Morum Puerilium Libellus' by Desiderius Erasmus (Preface, 2 October 2008).

Eleanor convenes and teaches Beginners' Latin for ad hoc translation for the MRes at CELL.
