Between our various academic visits, staff and students got to know Leiden in the spring sunshine.
One of our favourite excursions was a gentle tour of Leiden by canal, in the care of a taciturn and phlegmatic boatman who overcame the calamity of a snagged propeller without flinching, or even letting us know that anything was amiss.
And the food in Leiden, whether fried fish from the fish stall in the market or elegant dining at Het Prentenkabinet is simply delicious.
