The minutes of the preceding meeting were Read

vpon Hookes producing the paper of Mr. Cellars and Mr. Houghtons obseruations thereupon
which he had Receiud since the Last meeting from Mr. Houghton it was orders that the said
paper wth the sd Obseruations should be filed vp.

vpon mentioning the trees dug up in Cheshire &c. Mr. Hill added that there were many of
the like kind found in Diuers other parts not only of England as at about 30 miles
from hence in Hampshire where the country people split them out & vse them for
candles, but ^/Dr. Gale affirmed that/ they are also found in Divers parts of the Low country france &
Germany.

R Hook shewd the Society an other book sent from Mr. Smith which they orderd should
be procured for their Library to witt Diarium Biogiraphicum Hennings Witten
He also brough in 7 Acta Eruditorum from Sent to the Society from the Publishers at
Leipzick vizt. the 7th. supplement and the Acta of Nouember December 1690 and
of Ianuary February March & Aprill of 1691.
The Same presented the Society from Mr. Boyle a treatise of his newly published
Experimenta & Obseruations Physico wherein are treated of seuerall subiects Relating to Nat: Philos
to which is added a Collection of strange reports. Mr Hooke was Desired to Returne the Societys
thanks to the Noble Presenter. and to pervse the same and giue an account of it the next
Day:
Then the Letter of Reisilius which was omitted the Last Day.

A Letter from Mr. St George Ash to the Secretarys of the R: Society Dated at Vienna Iuly the 9 St. V.
was opend and Read, wherein was he acquaints the Society of the Sucesse of his inquiry about the
Discription & history of the Countrys and places . . . lately conquered by the Emperor. and
Refers to a Letter Inclosed to the Society From Count Marsilij collonell of the Engeneers for
the Emperor who is a noble man of Bononia the same tht formerly writt a Description of the
Bosphores Thracicus. and who is now very Desirous to be made a member of this Society
That there was a report the Grande Seignr. was dead that 40000 turks had passed the Draue.
that he had seen a plate of Brasse 14 inches Long 9 inches broad & 1/8 of an inch thick part of
which had been in the presence of the Emperr the Prince of Dietreckstein & Dr. Becker changed
transmuted into Gold by a certain powder Layd on the plate made only Red Hott by Wineglaus
de Reinburg. Of a plant growing neer gros waredine Resembling Petro selenum which
being eaten causes to person to be a neer fool or Sot for 2 or 3 days. but then it works off wthout
any other ill symtome.
Then the Enclosed Letter of Count Marsilij being written in Italian was pervsed by Sr
Iohn Hoskins & the Contents thereof Reported verbally to the Company.

The Pacquet & Letter sent from Dr hardas Weigelius were opened and Read.
