to bring in some accounts he had of Expts. made by Sr. Theodore
Mayerne that the Society might examine which of them were
considerable & fitt to be againe Examined. The Society Desired
that he would produce such papers. and Spake of appointing
some persons to be appointed to examine them.

The President moued that all Expts. might be examined by
a comtee. chosen for that purpose.
Sr. Willm. Petty Queryed whether /Desiring that/ the operator might next be
vsed by him for the making . . . . . /the apparatus/ and in the perfor /tryall/
ming of some. expts. to which the President and Society agreed &
mr Hunt was ordered to attend accordingly.

The same also mentiond it as a very desirable thing that euery
member of the Society would haue some aime or Designe for
promoting the ends of the Society and that he would doe somewhat
in order to prosecute that design. And wisht that they would prin
cipally aime at such Experiments or obseruations as might
proue. of Great & Immediat vse.

The President acquaintd the Society that the councell had mett seuerall times
to consider of the best ways of carrying on the Disigne of the Society
and that they had made some orders concerning it which he
Desired /caused to/ be read, And accordingly they were read & the
orderd that the Amanuensis should write them in a fair
sheet to Lye on the table at the meetings.

Then the Business of the Philosophicall Gazets was Discour
sed, and it was disired that the matter should be considered against
the next meeting of the Society. That the Society should not
be entitled to it, that the volume should be one /half a/ sheet in
^ /folio/, and not to be of more than 2d price. this me
thod was supposd would much propagate naturall Philosophy
& the English Language

The Printer to be discoursed wth about this matter as to
the Number to be printed the paper & the Letter.

It was further Desired that It might be recommended to the
Councell to settle this matter.

The Expt. to be tryd the next Day was the examination of
the mixture of gold & siluer, and mr Hill, Dr Brown mr Berry
& Dr Croon were appointd a comtee. to see the examination of it
on munday next at 3 in the afternoon at the operators Lod
gings - Sigr. Vivianjs Booke from Sr. R. Southwell.
