Dec. 18. 1679.

mr. Henshaw the vicepresidt. tooke the chair
William       Esqr was subscribed and was admitted
mr Ioseph Moxon Presented the Society one of his English Globes
together wth. A Book conteining the Explication and vse thereof
wth. a Desire that It might Stand in the meeting Room to be seen at
the meeting. He Receiued the thanks of the Society and mr. Hunt
had directions Giuen to make a wooden case for the same to
stand in the meeting Room

       Bridgeman Esqr was put to the Ballot and Elected
At the same time also mr.      Piggot was Put to the Ballot
and Elected.

mr. Hooke Read his answer to mr newtons former Letter as also
another Letter wch. he had Receiued from the Said mr. newton
conteining his further thoughts and Examinations of what had
been propounded by mr Hooke.
mr Hooke also Gaue an account that he had made 3 tryalls of the
Expt. propounded by mr Newton and that he had found the Ball &c
in euery of the said Expts. fall more to the south East of the per
pendicular point found by the same ball hanging perpendi
cular. But the Distance of it from the perpendicular point
being not always the same and the experiment hauing been made
wthout Door in the open Air nothing of certainty could be conclu
ded from it. But he alledged that he designed to make a tryall of it
wthin doores. where there would be Lesse motion of the Air, And Did
hope to be able to doe it before the next meeting of the society.
mr. Hooke Read a Letter of Erasmus Bartholine which he had Receiued from
the President containing Directed to Dr Grew Dated from /Copenhagen/ Hamburg
Feb: 23. 1679. In which he Expressed his Readinesse of correspon
ding, and Inclosed in the same there was a treatise of his nephew
Casper Bartholine De organo Olfactus, this was Deliuered to
Dr. Crone to peruse & giue an account of at the next meeting
in order to the sending an answer to it.
mr. Henshaw presented the Society wth a ^/printed/ account of the Great Losse
sustained by mr. Heuelius in the Late fire at Dantzick, which was
sent by Sr. Peter Wych from Hamborough to whom the said -
Printed account was Dedicated. he was Desired to Giue the socie
tys thanks to Sr. Peter wych for his communication, which he
vndertook to Doe in his own Letter.
