mr Hooke shewed also a 2d Experiment which was the
flame of a candle soe placed between the eye & a concaue
metallline speculum, that the Air which incompassed the said
flame and which by Dissoluing the parts of it into its self
became of a differing nature & Differing refraction from
that which was not satiated by the said Dissoluing.
This was plainly seen by the President & Diuers others of
the member present . to their satisfaction -
