The minutes of Iune 6
A letter sent to the Royall Society from mor: Ballialdus was Read -
wherein was conteined an account of his obseruations made of the
occultation of Saturn by the moon febr: 27. 1678. after sun set .
together wth. his calculation thereof from the Philolaick tables by wch.
he finds that those tables & the Heauens Differ by 19. minutes -
and also his calculation of the same by the Rudolphin tables by wch. he finds
that it ought to haue begun then when by his obseruation he found
it quite past. the which he ascribes partly to a fowrth inequality of the
moon wch. he conceiues is not yet brought to a theory. and partly also
the to the Disrepancy of the motion of mar from the theorys of
it. wch. by is found to be slower than the . . . Rudolphin tables noe Lesse
than a degree and an half and /then/ from his noe Lesse than 1/3 of a Degree
He mentions his Designe of Rectifying these tables as soon as mor Heuelius
shall haue published his obseruations (wch. he says will be wthin one twelue
month) if god /prolong/ Grant his Life wch. is already in the seuenty third year thereof.
then wishing prosperity to the Society and promising his Indeauour to that End he
subscribes it from Paris may 25. 1678. .

It was orderd that this Letter should be answerd and the Respects &
kind acceptance of the Society signifyed therein, and to communicate
to him wt. astronomicall matters occurd. here. wth their Desire
of his continuing this. correspondence to them.

At the same time also was Read a Letter from Sigr. Nazarj dated from
Rome may. 1st. 1678. Directed to Dr. Grew acknowledging the Receipt of wherein
he Desires to hold correspondence wth this Society and promises desires to haue his
extraordinary Great Respect for, and his Earnest Desire to correspond be seruice
able to, this Society by corresponding wth. them and sending them an account
of wteuer occurrs there philosophicall to be testifyed to them.
It was orderd that the care should be taken to answer this Letter and to continue
this correspondence now begun & soe much Desired by him.

A third Letter was also Read from Christ: Hugeuines to Dr. Grew from
the Hague Iune the 6. 1678 - giuing an account of his hauing Receiued his
Letter and that he was desirous to be informd concerning the Inuentions
and Acts of the Society as he had formerly been by mr. oldenburg.
moreouer that he would in return communicate wt. he thought worthy
of the society if any such occurrd. He addes that he had of late made
spent some thought about improuing microscopes being propted thereto by
the Discouery of those . . . minutes animalcules in Semine Animalj. made by
one - Hammius a student at Leyden . which he animalcules he hath often seen -
