And so great Parts are so far from authorising Security; that the more Precious is the thing they carry, the more heed ought they to take lest they Fall.

~. I desire Riches, more, Consider'd as meanes to do handsom things with; then for any Ease or Delight I wish for by them. More for the Good I may do with them then the Plesures I may reape for[altered from 'by] purchases by them.

6. Tho you have too much Judgment /Wit/ to need any other Counsell /Advice/ then your owne /that you can give your self/ yet [ 'not' deleted] to Obey you (not to instruct you) I shall take the Freedom to tel you &c.

~. Something that wud perhaps Less [ 'deligh' deleted] Dislike then it wud Instruct the Reader.

~. Eloquence in Arguments, (of Morality) is like Sugar to a Pill: 'tis no Part of the Pill, but yet 'tis that without which the Pill wud scarce be swallow'd doun.

~. Or like [ 'sack' deleted] Posset drink /Broth/ after Fisick, 'tis no Part of the Potion, but yet 'tis that that helps it to work /it's operation/
