It may please your H. The bearer hereof Monsieur Lect is deputed by the city of Geneva to sollicit hir Majesty & other princes in the behalf of their afflicted state wherof hee himself and his letters will give ample informacion Hee was forced to come furth into these quarters, by contrarety of winde & wether, & having lettres to the generall States of these Provinces hath bin instant with them & obteyned a very favourable aunswere. For they have promised to recommend his cause effectuallie to the Provinces & Townes, & to bee carefull in calling upon them for a speedy retourne of their determination & yf they cannot be induced to yeeld to some relief by waie of publick ceasement & contribution: they have put him in hope the same order wilbe taken for the generall collecting of every patient mans benevolence, wherein they give their worde to to doe their uttermost endevour which I thinke they will parfourme in good sort for their owne reputation & to remove the opinion conceaved of their want of zeale & good affection to the cause of religion, upon this their willing resolution, for which he hath staied heer but 4 daies hee hath left a sufficient parson behinde to negotiate in his absence, which is also don with their advise, for the winning of time. which I thought expedient to imparte with your H. & to take therewithall my humble leave.
