Though I trust your L. hath sufficient true advertisments of the preparation in Spaine, yet uppon a common bruit that is heere among marchants, and uppon the sight of a letter which was shewed me by Count Maurice, I thought it my duty to certifie your L. that the intelligence is heere, that the Spanishe King doth provide excee- dingly by sea, for the next sommer: having sent for out of Italy a great nomber of shippes, but relieng chiefly on his Gallies, of which he hath great stoare in a readines at St Ander. They are said to be in greater forwardnes nowe, then thei were the last time. At Dunkerke they are busied in setting fourthe 14 shippes, to carie all sortes of munitions, and as many masters and ma- riners as can be gotten, for Spaine. We have certaine intelligence, that the D. of Parma is still at the Spa, and will continue there till he have heard from the Kinge. The discontentment between him and the Spaniardes doth increase more and more: the Duke being fully persuaded, that he hath bin poisoned by the Spaniardes pro- curement.
