Later Addition: Belgia 1589 8 Maij To Master Bodly
Master bodeley I do delyver to this bearer these few lynes, to shew yow, that he bryngeth lettres from Master ortell to the states or the Counsell of states, by hir Majestyes Commandment to press them for an answer to hir Majestyes formar motion, for the receavyng of ostend into ther chardg. for suerly hir Majesty myndeth ether to render it to them, or if they will not spedely receave it of hir, it shall be abandoned. I pray yow procure answer with spede. and wryte therof not only hyther, but also to sir John Conwaye the Governor of ostend, for so hir Majesty wold have hym know with spede, whereto he may direct hym self, for he shall have powre to abandon it, if the states will not receave it.We heare not yet of your Commissionars arryvall. I feare they will not be hable to satisfy us from westminster 8 Maij 1589 Your lov. frend W Burghley
