Sir. This gentleman Monsieur Caron the bearer hereof having occasion to returne into those Contries about his owne private affaires, is put in trust by her Majestie upon a good conceipt she hath of this honestie and sufficiencie, and report of his creditt with the Countes and States, to use all good offices of frend- shipp between her Highnes and them, as also to mediate some good, for Deventer and others in his case as your self heretofore have had also direction. And for that my self also thinck him a gentleman of good parts and gyfts, and likely to doe some /good/ in those matters towardes the said States I pray you acquaint him howe farre you have alreadie proceeded, that he may with the more speed effect the same, as also that you would use him with all curtesie and favour in anie thing wherein you may stand him in steed.
