May it please your good L. I have yet no answear from the States, to her Majesties last lettres. For ether they come not together or their nomber is not competent, or som- what els is pretended, in excuse of their delay. But yet I thinke, er be long, I shall knowe their resolution, in one sort or other. Monsieur Busenval hath delivered a letter to the Councel of state from Mareschal Biron, wherein they are in- treated, to prohibit the marchants of these contreis, to transport their commodities to any towne of the Ligue in Normandie and Picardie, but that all may be discharged, in Caen and Dieppe: where their vent, gaine, and paiment, shall be every way as currant, as it should be otherwise. The Kinge, by that meanes, in raising an im- post upon suche kinde of marchandise, and permitting a free trafficke between his subjects and the Liguers, shall enforce his Enemies in those quarters, to seeke their pro- ision from the forsaid two townes, and make a benefit thereby, for the better main- tenance of his armie. and, as it is thought, is come very neere to his jorneis ende. The bearer herof Master Wiat can advertise your L. of all the particularities of the fribouting voiage of Count Overstein, wherwith in a former I acquainted your L. Having no other mater, that is of any worthe, I send your L. heerewith an Extract of certaine letters intercepted, which were written from some persons of qualitie, to the Governor of Gertrudenbergh.
